Chapter 195: A sudden ruse
Chi Lian tilted her head upward and looked at him, "You should call your police friends now. I heard a moan before you all arrived and I also saw a flash, the kind that goes off when someone is taking a picture. I think someone else figured out the killer’s identity before we did. " She said.
Of course she was lying but she knew that once Li Tao found out that there was someone being held captive in the cabin, he would call the police.
Li Tao’s small eyes widened, "Are you sure you heard someone in there?" he asked.
"Yes." She replied confidently, "There are a few small holes in the cabin, if you want you can peep inside and ascertain this for yourself. However, I am quite sure about what I heard. Hu Dieshang is holding someone in there."
She knew that after they rescued the victim, they would rush him or her to the hospital and then the police would get involved and the news would break. They might as well get the police involved now. She also didn’t want to be blamed in case things went sideways and the victim died before being rescued. She already got most of her pictures anyway.
Li Tao slowly stepped away from them and made a call. Then he returned and said, "The police is on their way but in the meantime, shouldn’t we do something to help the captive? We can’t let her kill someone else while we hide in these bushes."
"You are the police, you do something." Squirrel told him.
"I am a retired detective, remember?" Li Tao retorted. "Maybe if we all work together we can find a way of distracting her and rescuing the victim." He suggested.
Piggy and Squirrel looked at Birdie. When she nodded in agreement, Piggy asked, "What can we do?"
"Uhm...." the detective mumbled for a while, lost in thought. He had no clue as to what to do; all he knew was that they had to find a way to get Hu Dieshang to come out of the cabin. "Someone should come up with something because my mind is blank right now and we don’t have time to waste. She could be killing someone inside there right now while we squat and hide."
"Can one of us pretend to be injured and ask scream for help?" Squirrel asked nervously.
