Chapter 187: New possibilities
Her mind was whirling with all the new possibilities. Sally must have been put here by the gods as an answer to her problems. She grabbed Sally’s shoulders and shook them vigorously as she asked, "Which school was it?"
"Miss, you will break Sally if you keep shaking her like a mango tree." Sally complained as she pried Chi Lian’s hands away from her body.
Chi Lian realized that she had overreacted so she dropped her hands to her side and apologized. "I am sorry." She said, "I am just in a hurry to find something that Mu Qingzi took from me."
She saw Sally’s eyes light up like a shining star. "What did that woman take from you miss?" she asked curiously.
Now, Chi Lian recalled that this woman had a penchant for blackmail. The way her eyes were glowing, she was certainly not giving out this information or free. She decided to beat Sally to the punch by making an offer the woman could not possibly refuse. According to T4, Sally was a single mother of one child. She was widowed at twenty five, her husband was the breadwinner of the family so when he died, Sally was left poor and desperate with no means of income; she was forced into this line of work to feed herself and her child. If there was something this woman needed, it was money.
"I will pay you more money, the kind of money that can change your entire life and ensure that you will never have to pour alcohol ever again. But this is a onetime only offer, if you hold back to try and get more out of me I will not be as cordial as I am being right now."
"Miss," Sally said with a bold smile, "I will not take your money."
Chi Lian was stunned, why was Sally turning down an offer which could change her life and that of her daughter?
"Why?" she asked.
