Chapter 159: Our new office
"You look, uhm," Chi Wei looked at her from head to toe and tilted his head to find the right word to describe his sister’s appearance. "You look....did you get any sleep right night?" He gave up on describing her appearance and settled on asking the question which was on everyone’s mind.
But how could Chi Lian have a proper response? All night long she had tossed and turned, sleepless from the thought of the possibility that Mei-Mei could be her biological daughter and she could have another child out there.
Maybe remnants of the old Chi Lian were still active in her body somehow. Perhaps that could explain why she chose to adopt the little one in an instant as if she had been driven by instinct. Maybe that’s why she loved the little one so much that she would kill and do anything in the world for her. Perhaps Chi Lian’s soul recognized her blood.
T4 had not helped the situation, he kept asking what she would do if her suspicions were correct and the doctor did sell her eggs. Would she look for the other children if they existed? And what would she do if she found the child or children? Could she even legally claim such a child?
How would she even explain the situation to the Jun family if Muyang chose to stand by her?
It had been a long sleepless night for her. One filled with echoes of imaginary babies that were calling her mummy every time she closed her eyes .
And that brought her to the morning today. She had bugs under her eyes and she was plenty grouchy, like an old man who hated the world and everything. She was by all means in quite a pickle.
"Don’t say another word about it." She told her brother. She did not want to think or explain her situation to him. "Let’s just cut the stupid ribbon and get it over with."
The ribbon she was referring to was the shiny red ribbon tied to the doors of the new Phoenix building. All three companies were officially moving in today. Originally they were going to have a big celebration but with everything weighing on her mind, she decided not to do it. Her parents were reluctant about her decision so they decided to tie a ribbon around the doors and have the three siblings who represented each company cut it in front of the employees.
