Chapter 82: I want a lightning gun!
At exactly nine o’clock at night when other stations were airing news, phoenix TV was beginning its new program ’Missing, where are they now?’ program. Today, a special episode was airing because the missing person was a man and his story was simply tragic. The relatives had agreed to find out the fate of their missing family member on television. Chi Lian deliberately did it this way so that their raw emotions and pain could be seen by the viewers. This way, public outcry for the arrest and investigation into Hong Sian would be wide spread. He would not escape the web she was weaving.
The hosts of the show were three people, a retired police detective who investigated out in the field, a young woman who interviewed the families and friends of the victim and the principal Wang. After much interaction with Principal Wang, Chi Lian had discovered that she had a way with words; she could make anyone understand tragedy easily. Chi Lian had convinced her to host the show because the orphanage was up and running properly besides the extra money could not hurt.
After the introductions, principal Wang talked about the missing man a retired primary school teacher with Alzheimer’s who went missing from his home. His children had been looking for him for years.
They showed the young reporter talking to his family and friends. She spoke to some of his former students. She even went under the bridge and spoke to the homeless people were he used to stay. Everyone had nothing but good things to say about him. The male detective followed the clues to figure out where he went. He even got security footage which showed the old man walking to the area around a night club where he would be grabbed up by Hong Sian later.
The family was brought out to the stage to talk about their father and what kind of man he was.
Finally, they were asked if they were ready to find out the fate of their loved one. When they agreed, a video showing Hong Sian and his friends grabbing the old man off the street, drugging him into an empty building and setting him on fire was showed. That scene was blurred but the screams were audible.
The daughter screamed and fainted. The two sons were crying endlessly.
To add a twist, Chi Lian invited the young police officer who was in her office last time came in and the video was handed over to the police.
The show which started with about five hundred thousand viewers ended with twenty million viewers and the number was increasing because news was being spread about the video.
A special feature was done on the identity of Hong Sian. His family back ground was dug up. It was also revealed that he was a well-known rapist but the police had failed to arrest him despite the many reports.
HTV was dragged into the mud for killing all the news on Hong Sian’s cruelty and vile behavior.
