Chapter 80: A bounty on the peep star.
"What about me?" Jian Yu asked. She was the most desperate person in the room to ruin Hong Sian.
"You should concentrate on the shooting of your next movie. I know you have made yourself a name as the queen of soaps but part of rebranding is trying out new things. I want you to branch out. Let your fans see you in something other than a family drama about fighting for wealth or men."
Jian Yu blushed in embarrassment. It’s not like she did not try to branch out over the years, the company and her manager kept pushing the same roles onto her over and over again.
"Uhm, what do you have in mind?" she asked.
Chi Lian pulled a script out of her bag and gave it to Jian Yu. "This will be the next movie you are going to appear in. I want you to take the role of the queen Wu Jing in this movie. I want you to prepare for your rebrand like it’s a race for your very life."
Jian Yu quickly read through the synopsis of the movie eagerly. It was about a queen and her daughter whose fates were altered by actions that were not of their own making. Wu Jing was a seventeen year old girl who was in love and engaged to the young general Meng Dixian. However, for power and wealth, her father gave her to the old king as a wife. The old king had always coveted her beauty but he knew that the powerful Meng family would not stand by and watch as he took her away. So he accused the Meng family of treason and killed the entire family. However Meng Dixian survived and escaped to the North becoming a wealthy merchant.
The king married Wu Jing and forced himself on her, she gave birth to a son and two years later, she gave birth to twin girls. Twins were a taboo in the royal family and one daughter was given to a servant to raise in secret. The servant died while escaping and the girl ended up in the hands of Meng Dixian. Once he learned about her identity, he raised her with the intention to kill the king in future.
Meanwhile, Wu Jing raised her own secret force with the intention to eliminate the king, his supporters and her son should he follow in the wicked ways of his father. She would make herself the empress.
But all forces clash when the princess is killed and her sister takes her place in secret with a mission to wipe out the entire royal family. What choice will Wu Jing make? Kill her son, daughter or the only man she has ever loved?
