Chapter 11: A scandal and a bang[1]
The file she dropped on the table was heavy that it made a thud when it landed.
"We start with the orphanage. I have been investigating this issue with a friend of mine. As it turns out, corruption in this case runs really deep." Chi Lian appeared really disappointed as she explained the facts of the case.
"Not only is the mayor of city B involved but the permanent secretary and Wuliang Real Estate Company is also involved.
"Wuliang _, isn’t that one of the Wu family’s subsidiaries?" Chi Wei asked. "The players in this corruption case were really powerful. They will do whatever it takes to stop from the story from getting out."
"Sis, have you thought this through very clearly?"
"Yes. I have already collected all the necessary dirt on the involved parties. I figure the best way way to get our name out there is to start with a bang."
They all knew that a scandal of this magnitude would get the entire empire talking. The fall out would be massive. Basically, heads would roll and if the police and prosecutors did their job right, the corrupt individuals would be imprisoned.
While the aspect of taking on such a career launching case was exciting, the reality was nerve wrecking.
"We can’t do this on our own. We need help from an officer of the law that we can trust. One that is not afraid of powerful people." Chi Rui knew that this would be the best way to protect their lives.
"I already have someone in mind." Chi Lian looked at her elder brother.
"En_, why are you looking at me like that?"
