Chapter 268
The next to fall is the cultivator to my right, being controlled by my energy attacks. With the intensity doubled now that his counterpart on my left has fallen, he completely failed to notice the werewolf coming from the back and tearing his throat out.
That leaves the last two in a very bad way. They can’t run, they can win and none of their friends are in any position to help them. The pack might not be individually as strong as these cultivators are, but they’re well trained at working together and they’ve done an excellent job of surrounding and isolating the attackers.
Without someone to watch their backs, the Divine Transfer Cultists are being mercilessly harassed, only one cultivator other than the ones I’m fighting remains standing, though another is alive but unconscious. As I focus attacks to keep these two occupied, the werewolves have begun surrounding them, nipping at their legs and jumping back out of retaliation range.
The cultivators can’t turn to properly face them, as that puts their backs to me, meaning instant death, but they can’t ignore them, or they’ll have their limbs ripped off before they know it. The panic is setting in now, and it’s only a matter of time until they mess up. No need to over extend and risk injury, no matter how fast I heal. I just need to wait them out.
As expected, they falter, giving in to their panic and try to flee. Splitting to send one in each direction they bolt, abandoning their companion. The first is restrained by a Dragon strike to the leg and ripped apart by werewolves, while the other I fell with a thrown sword to the back of the skull, not wanting to put in the effort to chase him.
In the meantime the werewolves have picked off the last enemy and are beginning to shift back to their human forms and go to get cleaned up from the mud and blood of combat.
There is one still alive, and I’m going to go tie up the loose ends when one of the warrior Wolves snarls at me, standing protectively over the fallen cultivator.
"Found your mate, did you?" I ask him with a smile and he growls at my proximity.
"Think about who you’re growling at pup, I’m not going to steal your mate. In fact, even if I wasn’t mated already, she’s not my type."
"I think he’s more worried about you killing her than anything else." Alpha Conway says, walking over behind me.
"He’s got a point there. I rarely let any of the Cultists live. How about this, I’ll question her, no physical injuries, gentle questioning, and then when we determine she’s safe to be around the pack you two lovebirds can be together?" I say, offering a compromise.
The werewolf shifts back into his human form, which leaves him standing with one leg on either side of his mate, who has regained consciousness and is staring up at him in shock, clearly feeling the bond between them, even though she came here with an anti non human Cult.
