Chapter 231
My volunteer is reaching the end of the process, her core is formed and only in need of a density increase, while the Earth Elemental Shard has almost fully merged with her body. She’s burned through the stored Divine Energy in her body though, and I don’t want to mess up her cultivation by adding my own energy this time. At least Hui’Jin was already a Priestess of the Death God, so the nature of my energy was highly compatible with her cultivation.
As I finish and she slips into a meditative slumber to recover and adjust, I notice that the other volunteer is having a very different experience. She’s coated in wind shields so dense they’re visible to the eye, floating and giggling as Karl and Elder Song together try to bring things back under control. It looks like the Shard overruled her mental strength and took over, a danger of the technique that I heard of when I first met Karl.
I coat my hand in energy to avoid injury and force another Soul Forging pill into her mouth, her body immediately absorbing it while I circulate the pills energy for faster effects. Even if it hurts her foundation, it’s better than letting the Elemental run amok in her body.
One wasn’t enough so I add another, and the storm begins to die down as a look of concentration overtakes her face. That one is also absorbed, so a third goes in. That makes a many as I took the entire way through core formation, and it’s barely been enough to bring her up to the level where she can control her Elemental. I can sense she’s far from the mental strength necessary to attain Immortality, but Karl has her core formed successfully, and her body seems strong, though her foundation is shaky as the Wind Elemental fights for supremacy.
"Add more flexibility, the standard cultivation style is too rigid for her Elemental and it’s fighting the process." Elder Song says and I nod, making a change to her cultivation pathways. That seems to have helped a lot. None of us are wind type cultivators, so perhaps we misunderstood what they need from their cultivation journey.
Her stored energy is now exhausted, but she’s got a decently strong foundation, with a fluid, flowing nature to it that doesn’t seem to be hurting its overall stability. Her core is formed, but in the earlier stages, at a rather low density. Overall, a success. We merged two Elemental Shards and created two Core Formation cultivators from nothing in a day.
Now, they did get a memory infusion on cultivation that would likely have taken years to learn on their own, but in objective time, this was very efficient.
"Can we teach them some spells? The Elemental Shards will need an outlet for their energy before long. Especially the wind type, they tend to be hyper to begin with." I suggest and Karl laughs.
"Just as flighty as their element, the wind Mages are. I’m sure Elder Song has something?" Karl says and Elder Song takes out a pair of books, then a pair of blank hard cover notepads.
"I’ll give them a memory transfer for the very basics, and then they can spend a while copying out more from the grimoires. The learning process is important to successfully using advanced magic." Elder Song explains.
"As long as they can do something it should be enough. The Shards just awakened, so anything they do will be new to them. Plus, our volunteers have never actually cast a spell before." Karl adds.
We spend a while in silence before Lala quietly announces that breakfast service has started in the dining hall. That wakes both volunteers up with a start, cooking breakfast was part of their duties in the pack and they instinctively thought they were late for work.
