Mage And Wolf

Chapter 222

As the portals open, cultivators begin pouring out, in the unique Robes that indicate the Faithful Followers of the Divine Transfer. They don’t waste any time, immediately resuming their assault on the injured and exhausted red dragon. They begin the attack so fast that they don’t even take time to notice that she has gained allies, or that those other cultivators are also in the path of their attacks.

Elder Song steps forward to intercept the attacks with an energy barrier, before beginning to cast a binding spell to redirect the portals. It’s a trick he learned early in this journey, while examining the way the cultists searched for a viable passage to transfer their world through.

But he’s got no intention of sending them to another plane or even elsewhere on this planet. No, his plan is simple. Throw them out into space.

The spell only takes a few seconds, leaving them with a dozen enemies to face, all cultivators in the Immortal Realm, before the portals exit location changes. With any luck, they won’t have to deal with the remainder of those forces now, or at all.

Lelou is using some sort of healing magic on herself, though it’s slow due to her depleted energy. Karl tosses a Regeneration pill into the Dragons mouth, speeding up the process, before turning his attention to their attackers. He might not be into the Immortal Realm yet, but he’s got plenty of tricks up his sleeve, and wields attack power greatly boosted by the Arcane Elemental.

Dozens of Arcane purple whips coated in black Death Energy lash out from him, crashing into the defenses and bodies of the cultists, while Elder Song lets loose with a rapid fire volley of energy bolts laced with Divine Energy. The power behind them isn’t something most Immortal cultivators can deal with, and the cultists are forced to do nothing but defend mere seconds after their arrival.

"Friends, this War Dragon is a menace to the Divine Future, surely you must see that? Help us put it down and the Almighty Transfer Lords will reward you handsomely." One of the cultists tries to negotiate.

"She’s the danger yet you attacked us on sight? The War Dragon was right, your entire faction has indeed turned traitor." Karl bellows, knowing that their battle has surely attracted attention from high level cultivators by now.

To the eyes of the cultivators in the distance, that assessment does appear to be correct, these new arrivals attacked the locals the moment they arrived, negotiating only when it seemed they would lose. But they choose not to intervene, instead reporting the apparent defection of a planetary Transfer project to their superiors.

Unbeknownst to Karl, or the Divine Council that sent them here, this world is only one of dozens that the Faithful Followers of the Divine Transfer are attempting to move. Each one a fully independent experiment, trying to be the first to achieve their goals so they can inform the rest of the correct way and glorify their names.

The cultists know immediately what Karl is trying to do, but there is nobody here to explain themselves to, so they decide it’s best to wipe out the Dragon first and explain themselves later.
