Mage And Wolf

Chapter 220

No fewer than six members of the Divine Council are waiting for us to return. We’ve returned directly to the Throne Room and they’re all waiting in chairs around the edge of the room, awakening from their cultivation to acknowledge our entry.

"Did you get it? I hope so, it was such a hassle convincing Nancy not to charge you with war crimes for blowing up that Sect. The Sect Master was her favorite nephew’s grandchild." The Green Dragon in the group comments.

"Apologies for the inconvenience. It’s right here. I hope the rest of the team made it home safely?" I ask, setting the relic on a small table next to where we entered. Even out of my possession, I can still feel the knowledge it imparted.

"They did. Might I ask what caused your extreme actions? A good excuse might bring us some peace and quiet in the council chambers." The Dragon asks.

"Blasphemy against the Dragon Gods. The Goddess demanded they were punished." I say with authority. It’s the perfect excuse, blasphemy covers a wide variety of things, and nobody really second guesses the Dragon Gods. Of course, lying about their will can have serious consequences, but I can sense the Death God’s amusement at my interpretation.

The Green Dragon pulls me aside to ask in private, casting a barrier around us and I pull out the picture of the two Priestesses I removed from the pervy scout, my finger strategically covering the vital bits. It’s clear the photo was taken from a hidden angle and the Priestesses weren’t aware they were being observed.

"See, blasphemy." I smile and he grins at me.

"Well, it’s giving me heretical thoughts. I applaud their bravery though, getting caught would have led to a much slower death than whatever it was you did to them. What did you do by the way?"

"That’s a secret of the Black Dragon’s clergy I’m afraid. But rest assured, I made sure there were only immortals in the area before using it, no mortals were harmed by my act of Retribution."

"Good enough for me. I’ll just inform Nancy that he was punished for being a pervert." The Green Dragon nods and lowers the barrier.

"You might not want to return to that particular world for a while. The Sect Master recovered and had wanted posters with your face plastered all over the planet calling you a murderer and a thief." One of the other councilors mentions, still staring at the relic on the table.

"Thanks for the heads up. I kind of thought he might be upset, but I likely won’t have to see him again, so it was worth the price to complete the council’s mission."
