Since the old man refused to accept the water, the captain put away the water bottle and said, "This is the boundary of the Wu Lin base’s safe zone. If you want to see the base, you still need to walk more than ten kilometers. When you see the fence, you have already arrived at the outer area of the Wu Lin base."
After listening to the captain’s explanation, the old man’s cloudy eyes lit up and asked, "Sir, how much materials do we need to pay to enter the Wu Lin base?"
The captain looked at the small plastic bag in the old man’s hand that contained hard soil and said, "You don’t need to pay any fees to enter the Wu Lin base, but you need to undergo a physical examination and follow the rules."
As soon as these words were spoken, the originally lifeless crowd became more lively. They looked hopefully at the guards while talking amongst themselves. After calming down, the old man asked again: "Can we enter the Wu Lin base now?"
The captain shook his head and said, "Our base has regulations. After the gate is closed, no one is allowed to go in or out. If you want to enter the base, you have to wait until morning when the gate is open."
Hearing what he said, the old man and the other survivors became anxious. They walked non-stop from B City and finally arrived here alive, but they were still unable to enter the Wu Lin base. There was no more food or water, and they were wearing only a thin layer of clothing.
Without supplies and clothing, most of them have fallen ill and are on the verge of death. If they were banned from entering the Wu Lin base at this moment, the old man really didn’t know what these survivors would do when they were desperate.
The captain noticed the change in the atmosphere and glanced at the guard behind him. At his signal, the guards spread out, watching the survivors and the traveling merchants like hawks.
A few seconds later, the captain said, "Old man, all of you can set up a tent outside Sector E and take a rest until the entrance opens in the morning."
