Chapter 27: The Trial Rules
Maximilian read through the information until he stumbled upon Wildwalker's Wildland Knowledge and Wildwalker's Bestiary Knowledge.
These two abilities screamed trouble when it came to a trial by combat because, judging from the Trial Master's skills and abilities, there was nothing else that could give the Trial Master a real chance to win against him except for those two.
Maximilian had learned from the first trial that the Trial Master had the power to choose a battlefield that gave them an advantage. If that was the case here, the Wildwalker's knowledge could become his weakness, something the trial master could use against him.
He decided to prepare himself for the worst.
"System, will the system storage work in the trial?" Maximilian inquired.
[No. The trial is a battle between souls in a neutral space with clearly defined rules set by the trial master. Since the system storage is connected to the real world, it cannot be utilized during the trial because the trial does not take place in real space,] the system explained.
"I see... then why were my clothes and the items I was carrying at the time manifested in the trial?" he asked further.
[That's because the trial projects your soul in the state that you recognize yourself in. The state you were in just before entering the trial is the easiest for the system to replicate,] the system explained further.
Maximilian sank into thought after hearing the explanation. "Does this mean that if I were to recognize myself as a super powerful being, I would manifest as a super powerful being?"
[Yes and no. Your soul can only manifest within the limits of a human soul's strength, combined with your mental resilience. It's... complicated to explain, but...] the system paused.
[Imagine this: your soul is a vessel, holding a liquid. The liquid represents the changes you can make within the confines of that vessel. Whether it's fresh water, sea water, or flaming oil. As long as it's within the vessel's limits, you can recognize yourself as whatever you want.]
