The Fluffnugget lunged again.
Not ran. Not hopped.
Fired.
Like a cannonball made of cuteness, destruction, and sugar.
"LY!" Aiden shouted, twisting his body and flipping her off him. She yelped as she hit the ground, and before her legs even landed fully, he grabbed her arm and yanked her up—dodging just as the beam scorched the stone they’d been lying on.
The heat rolled across his back.
Behind him, Luna dropped flat and grabbed Ivy, flipping her around mid-roll and tucking the smaller girl against her chest as she dove behind another broken column. She landed on her back, Ivy lying sprawled across her front like a flustered plush toy.
"O-Onee-chan!? That was scary and cute at the same time!"
"You’re welcome, pup. Now stay down."
Aiden groaned as the dust settled, blinking away the glitter still shimmering in the air. He shifted slightly... and realized he wasn’t on the ground.
