He who Bends Time

Chapter 55 - superiority of time

Eyes closed, Marian froze in place—not just because of the pressure she felt in her body from the presence of the beast, but more than that, from the feeling of inevitable death approaching her.

But at that moment, there was also a spark of courage that refused to accept death without a fight. And just by holding onto that courage, she managed to open her eyes to face her end.

The fearsome mouth of the Ten-Second Death Spider, with its massive, gigantic fangs, was right in front of her—like the scythe of the grim reaper.

At the tip of those fangs was the beast’s signature venom—just a drop could kill anyone in ten seconds. And now, after its advancement into the awakened stage, she was sure even that ability had grown deadlier.

The Ten-Second Death Spider was truly a rare and extremely dangerous beast, and in a way, Marian thought meeting her end at the hands of such a monster wasn’t the worst way to go. It was certainly better than being killed by someone weaker or insignificant—especially when the beast was an awakened-level creature.

Hmm...

A silent moment passed for Marian. The beast’s wide-open jaws and venomous fangs were still right in front of her—yet it wasn’t moving. It was almost as if time itself had frozen in place.

She quickly turned to Auran—the only person she could think of who might be responsible for this. And as she looked, she saw Auran calmly advancing toward her.

Once he was close enough, he grabbed the blood spear from her hand. After a few moments of effort, he climbed up onto the spider’s massive body. Finding the weak spot near its brain, he took his time to aim.
