Chapter 45 - The followers
Through the forest, Auran followed behind the Night Hunter for a considerable distance, until they came to a place where the trees were wider than any others Auran had seen along the way.
"Ah! Are you alright?" Henry asked, as Auran bumped into him, swaying like a man caught in the wind.
"How do you see right now?" Auran asked as he looked at Henry to examine him.
Looking at Auran, Henry saw a man with reddened eyes, a swollen face, messy hair, and a slight, unsteady sway—like someone completely intoxicated.
"The Brain Deceleration Potion seems to be affecting you too well. I mean, you drank the whole thing on the way," Henry said.
"Is that how it is...? I’m just so messed up in my head now, I can’t even tell whether I’m drunk or not. I have to settle down quickly and come up with a solution to these problems soon," Auran muttered, rubbing his temples.
"By the way, Auran—I meant to ask you something," said Henry.
"How were you suddenly able to use time spells? Did you stumble on a treasure or something?" he continued.
Auran was silent for a moment before replying.
"You took your time asking that, huh... Just wait until we get back to the academy. You’ll get your answer at my graduation," he said with a tired smirk.
Although Henry was a bit dejected, he understood the reason. Unlike curse magic—or really any other magic field—a successful theory in time magic was immensely valuable. It wasn’t the kind of thing someone could casually reveal.
