"What? Do I have to sell my soul or something?" Miranda asked teasingly.
She was responding surprisingly calmly to what she was hearing.
"Actually, that’s not far from the truth."
"Seriously?!" she exclaimed. "Are you an incubus or something, collecting souls? It would certainly explain the mind blowing sex."
This girl. She wasn’t what he had expected. More practical and silly than haughty. And he was not expecting her to describe their first time as mind blowing.
"No, I’m not an incubus," he chuckled. "I’m just a human that accidentally received a divine artifact. If you want your physical self to gain your memories, you would have to accept being soul bound to me. The bond makes it so you cannot reveal any of my secrets and cannot harm me. It will also cause you to grow loyal to me faster and deeper than normal. And most important of all, it’s permanent. Once you’re bound to me, your soul is connected to me for all eternity."
"Oh, wow, that’s heavy. So, does it make me a slave? Would I have to do anything you said?"
He couldn’t tell if she wanted him to say yes or no.
"No, you would retain your free will. Loyalty doesn’t mean obedience."
"Hmm."
Is she disappointed? Her non-verbal response was equally ambiguous.
