Chapter 43
"Emi Sato. 0350-448-392." Yuki whispered, breathing heavy, his gaze flicking between the officer and the floor. "That is the only person I have."
The officer jotted it down in his notebook, then gave Yuki a long, unreadable look. Without saying a word, he stepped over to the desk, picked up the telephone, and dialed the number.
Once.
Twice.
Both times went straight to voicemail. The man’s jaw tensed.
Yuki’s chest tightened, sweat beginning to bead on his forehead. He could sense the growing impatience in the room, the way the officer’s lips pursed, the twitch in his brow. "I didn’t mean to—"
"Do you think I’m playing with you?" The officer’s voice rose sharply, his palms slamming down on the table like a gunshot. Yuki flinched, his muscles tightening painfully under the bruises. "One more chance and you’re staying in the cell until tomorrow, kiddo."
"Okay, one more chance. Can you give me a minute to think?"
"You’ve got one minute." The officer turned to the door, opening it halfway. "Excuse me..." He leaned halfway out of the investigation room and signaled with two fingers to Rei who walked in with some first aid. "He wouldn’t confess. Stay and watch him until I figure out why a kid of twenty one has marijuana."
"Kids smoke this days. It’s common officer Roger. I will still keep an eye on him." REI nodded her head, saluting to him after he takes his final leave. The door behind her shut and now it was only the two of them. REI had only a skimpy leather short on her lower body and a fully covered shirt on her upper.
She had changed from her doctor attire to her casual clothes. She dropped the medication nylon on the bed next to Yuki, her lips stretching into a smile. "Take two pills before you go to sleep. It will help you ease with the internal muscle and joints pain. You’d have to take it on an empty stomach though, the stations cook went home earlier."
"You must be leaving soon?" Yuki stared at her, unable to focus on her face with his eyes drawing closer to her chest. Despite being in a crazy situation, his abilities to see through women’s clothes were definitely active.
