Chapter 250 Arc 1
'Wait a minute, if Evelyn is correct, then with my current mana capacity of 1515, triple that is 4545, and then the second overload would triple that, making my total mana 13,635.' Roman's eyes widened as he ran the numbers.
Now he knew why people underwent the process; the gain was definitely outstanding, and this was coming from him, who had even less mana than a normal S-rank. If someone like Ava or Reina, who had more mana than him, went through the process, it would be even more.
Roman made up his mind in an instant; he was going through with it, not because he liked risking his life, but because of Sonia's input.
If he was told the consequences, and only that, then he would have been skeptical about the process, but since Sonia had guaranteed the success of the first two overloads, he was more than ready.
With everything he knew about Sonia, there was no way the soul of the artifact in Sonia would let her put Roman in danger; at least that was what he thought.
"We'll have to see what decision your Queen comes to by tomorrow, but I'm sure by now, even though you don't trust me, you should know I'm telling the truth." Sonia turned to Evelyn before heading back inside the room.
"You should rest too. I have a feeling tomorrow would be very busy," Evelyn said to Roman, and the moment he took a step forward, all the stress and everything came back to him in an instant.
It seemed the thought of increasing his mana temporarily cut down all the pain and tiredness he felt. Roman dragged his body until he collapsed on the bed beside Sonia, who was somehow already sleeping.
It didn't take long for Roman's vision to fade into darkness.

Roman's eyes slowly opened as he turned to his side. He was alone on the bed; then he raised his head to look around, and the silence was the first thing that greeted him.
After some minutes of tossing and turning, Roman let out a long sigh before sitting up; his body still wasn't fully recovered after last night, but it was a little better since he got some sleep.
He stretched for a moment before getting off the bed and heading towards the door. The moment he stepped outside, a royal knight turned her head towards the door, as she was the one on the left to check on him.
"Good morning," Roman greeted the beautiful knight with a smile on his face, but to his surprise, her face remained expressionless as she simply nodded.
"Miss Evelyn instructed me to take you to the palace gate when you wake up. The room behind this one has a bath, and fresh clothes have been set aside," she spoke turning away from him.
'Ohh, a serious knight, it's strange she isn't smiling like the others; she must be impervious to my charms, and she's a beauty, too bad, maybe another time... I should get ready.' Roman shook his head as he stepped outside the room.
Behind the room he slept in was another room with a door to the side. Roman pushed the door open, and warm steam greeted him.
Without wasting a moment, Roman took off all his clothes, but before he could plunge himself into the water, he heard a knock on the door followed by the knight pushing the door open.
Roman turned around, and the knight's eyes met his. She froze with her mouth open as she stared at him, her eyes drifted down to his little brother.
"Miss Evelyn *Cough* Miss Evelyn... She... You should hurry!!" The knight stuttered as she spoke and slammed the door as soon as she was done.
A smile formed on Roman's face as he knew she was simply putting up a serious front; he could get her to drop the serious act if he wanted, but as the knight said, Miss Evelyn told him to hurry up.
Roman eased himself into the bath and immediately plunging his entire body in; it was the most relaxing bath he'd had in a long while, probably because his entire body was tense from training all night.
Roman wanted to remain in the bath, but he knew the knight would probably be back if he wasted too much time.
Roman finished his bath, cleaned his teeth, and dried off his body before putting on the clothes prepared for him. It was simple but elegant, almost resembling a military uniform from Earth.
Roman stood in front of the mirror and admired himself a bit more; unlike the first time he arrived, his body and muscles had developed a little more, and he was used to this face now.
Roman stepped out of the room and walked towards the knight, who had her expressionless face back on.
"I'm done," Roman spoke, and she nodded without looking at his face.
"Follow me," She spoke, leading the way with Roman behind her.
Both of them arrived in front of the door leading inside the palace instead of the gate, but a carriage was waiting for him, and he was instructed to go in, which he did. Then a familiar face approached him.
It was Evelyn's second-in-command who used the barrier spell that made her appear invisible.
"Miss Evelyn told me to pass this message to you. She said you'll be taken to visit your family and spend the day with them; you'll be picked up tomorrow morning," she said.
"My family? Are we leaving the capital after that?" Roman asked.
"I have no idea, goodbye" she replied as she stepped away and the carriage door was closed. The horse slowly began moving, drawing the carriage behind him, and soon they were past the palace gate.
Roman knew there was only one reason he would be told to visit his family; he was going on a journey, or rather somewhere away from the capital.
Roman leaned back staring through the window of the carriage. Whatever decisions had been made, there was no turning back now, but at least the future was looking a little bit brighter.
