Chapter 712: Declaration of love
"I know, my love." Cleora answered with a small smile. "Then, we will go with a close knit wedding for the two of you."
Coco brightened almost immediately. "Really?"
The older woman could only nod. "Really. You’re the bride, and you’re the one getting married. I offered to take care of your wedding costs because I wanted to be there for you."
Coco’s heart warmed at the words, but Cleora wasn’t done.
"I don’t want to be like any other mother back on earth who did what they wanted for their child’s wedding just because they’re the ones taking care of the payments." Cleora stated, quickly adding to her previous statement. "What kind of mother would I be if I became like them?"
The corner of Coco’s lips twitched at that, while Kairo simply shook his head.
How could they be so lucky to have an understanding and open-minded mother like Cleora? Not to mention, she’s the one who has the money to give her daughter whatever she wants.
It’s a good thing that Coco doesn’t want much, but only to have her family spend time together.
Kairo himself couldn’t help, but think how lucky he is.
He’s glad that he met Coco Coison, and got to know her more instead of Coco Hughes— he wasn’t informed of what happened to her in detail, but he’s more than happy to not know.
He had heard several stories about her being the worst to his mediator friends, so who knows what the original Coco would do to him if he were to marry her?
Besides, he had waited patiently and long enough.
He had fallen in love with Coco before he knew it, and couldn’t help himself from pursuing her according to the pace he knew suited best for her.
Who knew that she would be so smitten with him to the point of her asking him to marry her? And the fact that the husbands had been waiting for them to be official? Oh, that was the cherry on top of every cake he had eaten his entire life.
Shaking his head, Kairo got rid of the thoughts in his head for now, and smiled softly towards Cleora.
He found himself nodding again. "Thank you so much for understanding my bride, mother. I promise she will never regret marrying me, nor would she regret giving me a chance to love her with my full potential."
Cleora blinked and she could only stare due to the heartfelt declaration from the hybrid before her.
Coco was in the same state as her mother and could merely stare at her soon-to-be husband while her heart raced at the words he had uttered.
The declaration of that promise made her incredibly happy.
"Wow." Cleora giggled, waving her right hand in the air. "I didn’t know such a passionate young hybrid like you would be this smitten towards my daughter."
Kairo’s face warmed at that, the corner of his lips twitching.
"Though, I would be upset if you weren’t." Cleora added, quickly replacing her smiling face with a pointed stare, which made Kairo flinch in his seat.
"I’m serious about her." Kairo stated and inhaled sharply. "I don’t want anyone els—"
"Yes, yes, of course!" Coco exclaimed and cut him off, waving her intertwined hand in the air, causing Kairo’s hand to be waved around as well. "We get it, okay? No need to delve deeper into your love for me!"
She loves professing her love for her lovely mediators and the hybrid, but it makes her feel shy if she’s on the receiving end.
Kairo huffed, holding back his laugh.
Seriously, Coco is already adorable for his eyes, yet she still managed to look more adorable.
Is that even possible?
"Anyway, as what my bride was saying." Kairo resumed speaking, clearing his throat and turning his attention to his soon to be mother-in-law. "It is best to have a small wedding instead of a grand one."
Cleora let out a soft laugh. "Very well. Though I believe that you simply changed the topic because of my daughter’s shyness."
Coco became even more flustered.
But Kairo shook his head to save his fiance’s reputation, the corner of his lips curling up into a small smile.
"Let us not change the topic again, mother." The hybrid chuckled, squeezing Coco’s hand and forcing it down onto her lap. "Now, can we move back onto a more important topic at hand?"
"Of course." The older woman agreed, dropping it for now.
"Thank you." Kairo hummed, his eyes shifting to look at his fiance before looking back at his mother-in-law. "Now, moving onto the next one.. The only ones we’re going to invite are less than a hundred."
Cleora didn’t process the information and nodded, but when it slowly sink in, her face quickly morphed into shock.
"What?" She gasped, jaw slacking in surprise.
"I agree, mama." Coco voiced out, leaning forward as she fiddled with Kairo’s fingers. "I don’t want anyone who we’re not closed with to attend the wedding. Just you, my husbands, and my friends are enough. Didn’t I say that?"
"You did.." Cleora mumbled, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. "But are you sure?"
"I’m sure." Coco answered, nodding her head. "You can invite a few of your friends, but please don’t surpass five heads, please."
Cleora stated at Coco, lips pursing.
The problem is, she doesn’t have any friends and she realized this just now.
She was so caught up by the thought of finding Coco, and her other two daughters, in this new world that she failed to consider looking for friends.
Heck, she couldn’t even keep a proper relationship of master and familiar with Leo.
She let out a sigh, raising a hand to press her fingers into her temples. "You see.. I appreciate the thought of you wanting me to invite people I’m close with, but even if do want to invite friends.. I, unfortunately, don’t have one."
Coco and Kairo blinked, eyes widening.
