Chapter 253: A raven’s pair quest [10]
Coco grabbed Alithe, pulling him close to her body in a swift movement as she swung herself up on a tree branch.
She pressed her back against the tree, her arn snaking around his torso and pulling them flush against each other with her free hand finding its way to his mouth, her palm covering it tightly to muffle any sound he might make.
Coco was quick to summon a vine, the slender tendril appearing in a flash as she commanded it.
The vine snaked through the air, its thin form stretching out towards the adjacent branch as it coiled around the sturdy limb, the vine’s surface clinging to the bark as it wrapped around the branch, stabilizing the branch the two of them are on.
The vine’s strength was evident as it stabilized the branch, its hold firm enough to eliminate any creaking or rustling that could give away their presence.
Satisfied with what she did, she looked down, her gaze fixed on what she previously saw in the distance, and all Alithe could do was widen his eyes with surprise, his body going tense in her grasp.
Alithe was about to push himself away from Coco, but he heard a distinct sound near them.
His head snapped down, his gaze zeroing in the direction where he heard the sound came from, and to his surprise, Coco was already looking in that direction.
He would have questioned the woman before him how she could tell that there was something in the dark, but a movement from his peripheral vision caught his attention and made him bite his tongue.
Something moved out of the darkness and stepped into a clearing, its form shrouded in shadows.
Coco’s and Alithe’s eyes squinted, trying to make out what it was, but their vision was obstructed by the darkness looming all around the forest.
