Chapter 98: Sincere apology
Zaque’s expression was shocking, his eyes looking downwards with his shoulders slumped forward in an apologetic manner.
His red eyes were downcast, avoiding the woman’s gaze in front of him as if feeling a deep sense of remorse.
His usual look of resentment and contempt are gone, making Coco gape at him like a fish out of water, unable to believe her eyes and ears.
The expression on his face spoke volumes, his body language broadcasting his regret more clearly than words— his hands were now unclenched with his fingers fidgeting nervously on the hem of his clothing.
Somehow, for Coco’s eyes, he looked small and vulnerable, his usual arrogance replaced by a look of genuine remorse.
"I just need her for a moment." The mediator spoke quietly, his voice soft and sincere, and Coco swears that she could hear his voice shaking slightly.
What happened to the Zaque she had known?
Coco let out a huff and stood up from the chair, "Jacques? It’s okay. I don’t think he will do anything. I already dropped the poison tiger here so I’ll come back later for the money and the tiger part that Renaldo will set aside."
Jacques whisked around, a look of worry crossing her face as she watched Coco pick up the basket off the floor with ease, "Are you sure? Your wounds—"
