Chapter 116 - Nano’s Kidnapping Attempt?
Within a black car dashing along the highway, seated inside, Cruxius scrolled through his phone. He wore a white shirt and pants that Darithi had brought earlier.
Beside him, dressed in borrowed clothes, lay Seleyena, clearly exhausted—her body limp, almost unconscious—sleeping with her head resting on his lap.
"Master, Thalia seems to have reached the mansion," Darithi informed him. Just moments ago, Cruxius had asked whether Thalia had reached the mansion or fled.
She had plenty of time and space on her way back from the hospital to disappear. But he wanted to test the impact of Seleyena’s words on her. It appeared Thalia had chosen not to run, instead following the lingering effect of what Seleyena had said.
In one way or another, he had—without force—bound Thalia to act of her own volition, or at least to seize the opportunity to grow. By using Seleyena, a woman Thalia viewed very differently, he had shown her a mirror of truth. In doing so, he subtly conveyed that he didn’t need her consent to move forward.
So Thalia was already in check—and likely had been put in her place by now.
"Hm. And what about both sisters?" Cruxius turned his gaze toward the window, watching the vast landscape blur past.
"We have kidnapped them, as per your orders. But since they were already under surveillance, there wasn’t much need for it," Darithi explained. The operation had been carried out at the curry shop they had visited last time.
Since the owner had the rare ability to cook in a way that clearly pleased her master, she had taken the mission personally.
But during the process, she kept wondering why her master had ordered it.
In the end, her only conclusion was that he had done it to protect the sisters from someone or something.
