Suizi was bustling about.
After witnessing the battle between Jiaojiao and Liu Meimei at the hospital, she went home to eat lunch, skipping her nap, and after stuffing a fruit platter into her mom Chen Lijun’s lap, she picked up the phone and started to report the good news to everyone on her list.
It was then that Chen Lijun realized what her daughter meant by "running around stirring up trouble."
Suizi kept a little notebook, where she recorded who had said nasty things about her mom’s belly.
There were a few families that Suizi was convinced prayed every day, hoping Chen Lijun would give birth to a daughter, and Suizi had noted all of them in her little book.
She had been biding her time for months, just waiting for the gender of the baby in Chen Lijun’s belly to be confirmed, before letting everyone know, one by one.
"Second auntie, it’s Suizi. I’m so annoyed today——Why annoyed? Oh, it’s just because my mom had a prenatal checkup today, and the doctor told me I’m getting a little brother, so of course, I’m annoyed. I mean, if I have a brother, doesn’t that mean my dad’s antiques can’t be given to your son? I’m actually getting all worked up on your behalf, haha."
That last "haha" made the earlier "so annoyed" seem all the more Versailles, her joy barely containable.
Chen Lijun numbly stuffed fruit into her mouth, watching her daughter’s childish performance.
After hanging up, Suizi crossed off the great-aunt on her list and picked up the phone to call the next house.
"Are you bored or something... Has the school really gotten that slack? Or should I give your tutor a call, maybe get you loaded down with some more tasks?" Chen Lijun said.
