Unable to refuse their generosity, Suizi and Yu Jingting climbed onto the delivery truck.
The truck was loaded with large and small cardboard boxes, filled with bits and pieces of things.
"You two live near Tsinghua, don’t you? I recognized you right away, Suizi. You look so much like my sister Jun." Chen He warmly said.
"Many people have said the same." Suizi replied politely, though Yu Jingting could sense her reservedness.
"You’ll get used to all these relatives. Don’t take their words to heart. They also tease me for being a small-time merchant who cannot hold his own in high society. Well, we can’t care too much about others’ opinions in life."
Upon hearing this, Suizi and her husband agreed and nodded in acknowledgment.
Throughout the journey, Chen He tried to find topics to chat with the couple. He was a local and was characteristic of one, being warm, talkative, knowledgeable, and having a hint of cunning beneath his frankness - attributes of a typical small-time trader.
When they arrived at their destination, Chen He unloaded a box from the truck.
"These are just some fruits for Sister Jun. I won’t go in."
As Yu Jingting reached out to take it, Suizi opened the box, causing Chen He’s face to shift.
Opening a gift in front of its giver was certainly impolite, but Suizi did regardless.
