Chapter 281: Would you like to find out?
"I don’t need anyone but you, Alice." Michael said. "You’re my only friend."
"Well, I figured that much. You must spend most of your time running research as a mage if you’re not raiding dungeons. So, your lab tools are your friends," she chuckled but he did not laugh along with her. He held her hand and pressed it on his mask, wishing he could at least kiss her hand, just as Noah had done earlier.
He hated that he had to wear a mask.
"Alice, will you spend time with me?" He requested. "Even if it’s just a few hours, will you?"
"When you act so modest, it creeps me out that I start wondering if you’ve been possessed or something." She joked and laughed. "Maybe it’s because I’m used to you naturally acting all mysterious and creepy that when you act like a normal person with longing, it feels so strange. Mark’s the one who usually acts like that."
"Right, Mark." Micheal said. "You spend your day at home with him and now he’s at your school too. I’m so jealous I could cry." His words sounded sarcastic, and he laughed, but Alice did not laugh this time around.
"Micheal," she called. "Will you take your mask off for a bit?" She requested and silence fell on them. "You’re wearing that extra mask right now, right? So, you won’t feel so insecure, isn’t that right?"
"I am, but..." He turned his head away. "I’m afraid I can’t do that."
"Why not?"
"Are you interested in the reason?" Micheal asked and Alice could tell he had a smirk due to his tone. Oh, so now he’s recovered from his lovesickness. "Are you more interested in me now, Alice?"
"Not quite but you are an interesting subject." She said, her hands trailing through his chest. "You’re so mysterious that I know little about you. I don’t know a lot about the others but when it comes to you, I feel especially oblivious."
