"Wait, do you... Do you get changed into your night clothes by... Leo?" Devon asked and Alice, who was half asleep, nodded her head, giving no explanation whatsoever and allowing Devon to misunderstand the whole thing.
Devon felt his heart thump painfully.
’Ah, what is this? I thought I could get closer to her and maybe become someone she could rely on, but after all, am I wishing for something more? Just how can she let a man change her clothes for her?’ he thought about this, his blood boiling when he realized something and paused.
Leo never seemed to show interest in Alice and instead, teased and taunted her. He looked like he would rather stay stuck in a world alone than with her, but he cared for her, that was a fact. He protected her with his knowledge and stayed by her side.
He had no ulterior motives. At least, none that the naked eyes could see.
And because of that, he could do all that for Alice and still not bat an eye.
Was that why Alice was so fond of him? Because his thoughts of her were completely pure and without desire?
He was just speculating about all this but what if it was true?
Then, was the secret of getting close to Alice was to do everything for her without a shred of selfish desires?
He couldn’t understand. If that was it then it was very hard. Wasn’t the reason why they wanted to do everything for her because of their desires? Or was it because they wanted to do everything for her that they grew desires?
His heart thumped. He was confusing himself with his thoughts but more than that, he was conflicted.
