Chapter 124: Uh... that’s good to hear
"Does she always take this long to think?" Miss Stella asked Mark with a little whisper. "Or is she just in shock about what happened? I can understand since she is a kid and..."
"No, no. That’s not it." Mark said. "Alice is a bit... Different." He glanced at Alice, his worries falling at ease since she was reverting to her usual habit. "I believe she’ll tell you about it herself."
Miss Stella was still quite confused. Couldn’t he tell her instead? This was a matter of a child’s mental stability.
Well, they did say S-class awakeneds were crazy in the head, but if it’s affecting a child of 17 to the extent she starts hallucinating and having conversations in her head, then it was quite concerning.
Yet, these two didn’t seem to worry one bit.
Then, was it nothing to be worried about, to begin with?
"The reason why I threw up so much blood," Alice finally spoke up. "... It was just my body expelling the rotten energy and poisonous miasma that sneaked into my system." She said.
"Miasma?"
"Ah, you didn’t know, but I walked into the gate that had turned from blue to red, and inside was filled with thick fog of miasma. It was poisonous and though it did not harm me then and even after I walked out if it stayed in my body for much longer, it would only deal damage to my mana core and the likes." She explained and smiled. "And that’s why you couldn’t find anything wrong with me. So, I’m perfectly fine."
They stayed silent, staring at her. It did sound reasonable but why did it feel like it was the kind of excuse a child would give to get themselves out of any sticky situation?
