Chapter 89: How did you end up flying out of the room?
"Miss Alice is a person of her own, as you know, so stop trying to make decisions for her with your own selfish mindset." Devon’s blue eyes suddenly glowed red as he added with a bit of rage in his eyes. "She is not yours, so stop trying to make this about you. It’s sickening."
Mark stood his ground, facing off against Devon who had way more stats than he did.
"Say whatever you want. I’m not trying to make decisions for her." Mark said. "She’s oblivious of the awakeneds world. I just don’t want her to fall prey to wolves and tigers."
"Alice isn’t mine. I know that too well. And do you know what else I know? She’s not yours either." He dared to say. "Why are you trying so hard to recruit her? You want to have the strongest weapon under your wings, don’t you? The selfish mindset you claim I have is nothing compared to that of you S-class awakeneds. You want it all, and you’ll get it, no matter what you have to do."
Devon frowned.
"And just what mentality are you using to talk to me like that?" He asked, releasing more of his threatening aura to intimidate Mark. "Do you think I want to recruit her so I can use her powers however I want? Think straight. If she doesn’t join a guild soon or create her own at least, the agency will not let her go into any gate, even if it’s on solo missions. And they will keep perceiving her as a threat. They are greedy, and they are the ones you should be wary of if at all you are doing this out of care for Miss Alice."
He shifted back, glaring at Mark, who wouldn’t stop giving him the deadman’s eyes.
"Gosh, I feel like I’m talking to a brick wall with you. If you know what’s important, you’ll know that Miss Alice can’t be without a guild for too long." He turned away from him. "And I don’t want her to end up in a guild that could exploit her, so that’s why I’m here."
Mark’s veins popped out as they crawled up his arms. He clenched his fists so much that they had become so visible.
He was mad. He was so mad yet he couldn’t find a justified reason for his anger.
What Devon said was true. All of it, yet he couldn’t stop himself from being so pissed that Devon wanted to recruit Alice to his side.
