Chapter 77: And then, will you give me money?
The doorbell rang, and Mark rushed towards the door, thinking it was Alice and she was ringing the bell because she didn’t know the passcode of the house.
But as soon as he got to the door, he stopped and then composed himself, so it wouldn’t look like he had been waiting for her all along.
He then opened the door, only for him to see who was at the door and frown.
"What are you doing here?"
Alice walked into the building, bobbing her head happily since she had picked up a few chicken drumsticks on her way back.
There were a lot of late-night chicken joints, but since she didn’t have any money, she was worried she wouldn’t be able to get anything to eat. So, she decided to trade one of the valuable items in her ring for food.
However, they did not believe that she would give out something valuable just for a few drumsticks and thought she was a scammer. She was also asked to show her awakeneds badge, which she didn’t have.
She was placed in a difficult spot. So, she had to bring out something even better. An elemental sword. At least they couldn’t tell her it was a fake when the blades lit on fire.
Yet, even that was disapproved since it was dangerous for non-awakeneds to have weapons. They could be attacked by awakeneds who would try to coerse them to give it away for free or suffer consequences. And they may even wreck the place if they refuse to give away the sword. Anything could happen.
"Hm, then what do I do?" She asked, leaning on her sword.
Then, a big guy, in the company of his goons approached her. They had seen the things she brought out and thought of her as a naive beginner.
