Chapter 46: Are you going to start acting spoiled?
"You’re an A-class combat awakened, yet you have no talent, and that’s why you were stuck at the level of jailer. Since that’s the only thing you are good at, you should know people aren’t what they portray themselves as. They are evil, and you never know; she could be too. So, shut your mouth and don’t spoil her anymore."
Mark flinched and then clenched his fists on his lap.
He slowly bowed his head, unable to refute his words. He hated the mean things he said about Alice but... He couldn’t open his mouth to speak. He had no authority to.
He was an A-class awakened but he had no real talent.
Even B-class mages were better than him.
He couldn’t fight monsters properly and that was why he couldn’t even go on raids and was stuck watching over criminals that were brought into the facility, observing them, and overseeing that they confessed to their crimes.
That had been his life since he became an awakened after he dropped out of school and had no money to take care of his slowly dying mother, who was now deceased.
He has awakened too late and lost his mother. Maybe that was why he didn’t have the power to fight monsters. Maybe because he had no will or no zeal. He couldn’t tell.
He had no one to take care of but... He needed to make ends meet for himself.
So... All he could do was work with no emotion on his face, watching the worst criminals walk in and see all sorts of cruelty they mete out.
But then he met this criminal who was brought in on the charges of hiding her identity as an S-class.
