Chapter 71: Watch Me
The moment I stepped out of my room, Natasha was standing outside, leaning on the wall just opposite my door with her head lowered. She must have come here but lacked the courage to knock, which is ironic because her arrogant and snobbish attitude was what earned her the title ’Witch of the West’ in class, yet she was nothing but a pitiful cat in my presence.
’Love disarms and weakens people. Avoid it at all cost,’ I reminded myself.
She quickly noticed my appearance, looking up to meet my gaze.
"Can–" Natasha froze as she noticed the clothes I had on weren’t for normal outings.
It was a turtleneck leather sleeveless shirt, complemented by cargo pants fastened with a utility belt from which my Rai’ki blades hung, finalized with boots—all black. She noticed I had my Rai’ki gloves on before looking back up to meet my gaze with a questioning look.
"What’s going on?" she asked with a slight gasp.
Our eyes stayed connected for three seconds before I looked away and used my palm print on the door sensor to lock it.
"It’s none of your business." My response was simple and cold.
I began walking down the lonely corridor, hearing all manner of noises from everywhere—ranging from loud laughs to chatters and even moaning sounds from couples who wanted the entire building to know they were making love. This reminded me of the reason why barely over five out of fifty Limitless graduate and make it out of this academy alive.
There were far too many useless people wielding powers they aren’t able to use properly. If I had my way, I would have dragged them back to Nightfall Dominion territory and slaughtered them there like the animals they are. That way, a being of greater calling would be able to use their abilities for something meaningful.
