Chapter 616: The Tomb
He frowned at the description and last two abilities. Though powerful, he agreed they would fit a tier-six weapon better. Still, the other enchantments were perfect and elevated the targeted affinities to a new level. But he couldn’t help but feel dissatisfied.
"I need the emperor’s technique." His fingers tightened around the smooth wooden hilt. "Make haste, Misha. The hourglass is half empty already, and I want you to stand with me for the last trial."
As he muttered, forty disciples stood before the closed door, blades, spears, and gauntlets glinting in their hands. Qi swirled through their meridians, and their focused frown never left the door.
"I can’t believe we don’t get to witness our seniors complete the trials," one of them whispered, his lips twisted.
"That mage is too cunning, brother. He made them waste half an hour before they understood his plan and spread to take turns in trials." His companion sighed before they grumbled and refocused on their tasks.
Yet, their eyes widened, dread’s icy fingers wrapping around their hearts as the door creaked open slightly.
"He’s coming out!" The core disciples roared in their communication jade slips.
The direct disciples’ urgent voices echoed with the same command a split second later. "Don’t let him escape, but don’t engage in direct battle. I’m rushing back!"
The forty disciples’ eyes narrowed, their muscles tensing and their equipment humming with powers as they prepared for the worst. Yet, they frowned as the door closed without a sound.
What was the mage thinking? He had just thrown his advantage by revealing he had completed the trial.
"Hahaha! He crawled back into his hole after seeing us. What a wimp!"
