After Mei Lan guided them to a cosy bedroom permeated with the fragrance of fresh soap and wooden incense, Adam hugged Misha and kissed her forehead.
"Sweet dreams, Misha. Sleep well, big sister."
An electric shiver ran down her spine as she shuddered in his warm embrace, her heart racing in delight. These emotions of safety and genuine love were ones she had only ever felt with Adam.
"You too, Adam. I hope everything goes smoothly for you."
He pulled back, his lips curling into a smug grin. "Of course it will. I won’t let you have to worry."
He pushed his wooden bed against hers, creating a larger sleeping space.
Smiling, they slid under the bedsheets, their hands and fingers locked as they fell asleep.

As usual, he opened his eyes in his soul sea a moment later. Fresh winds carried the scent of the forest, making the plain’s grass sway gently before him. In the distance, the revitalised silver fruit tree reached for the silver moon, casting a long shadow over the liquid pool of green fire. In its middle, the annoying demonic cleaver vibrated with his appearance.
"Liar! Oathbreaker! You treacherous human!"
The cleaver’s insidious whispers veiled the dreamy landscape with a layer of darkness. He shrugged, unbothered by the scene. After all, it had been the same for the past seven years.
