"That was when I knew it was late-stage cancer. I had him hide the truth because I didn’t want you to worry. Now with the relocation, I don’t want to be a burden, and if I were to go on the road, it would just be taking up a spot. It’s better to leave that position to a younger, able person who can be of use to the base."
