This time, they didn’t bring companions because they weren’t going far; they just needed an excuse to go out, bring things back, and return the same day, so there was no need to trouble everyone with the trip.

They didn’t plan to go far this time, as the sandstorm obscured the roads and traveling far would be dangerous. Originally, they wanted to check on Wang Youcai, but given the road conditions, it would take too long to get there.
Thus, they only drove until they were out of sight of the base’s gate and then stopped. Afterward, they entered the Space and modified the shipping containers there.
The Space had everything they needed to make the modifications not too difficult. The rooftop was transformed into a sloped roof to prevent damage from potential rain or hail, also providing insulation against the cold and heat.
The windows were made with three layers for good sealing.
On the outside, they covered the walls with insulation panels. Now the safety factor of the house was very high. Later, they planned to drive a few stakes into the yard and secure them with steel bars to ensure safety.
Of course, when they returned, they would check the condition of the original villa. If feasible, they’d repair the villa and continue living there as it felt more like a home.
Although the modifications weren’t very difficult, it was impossible to complete four in one day, so they finished their own container that day and brought a few semi-finished products back to work on slowly. Once everything was ready, it wouldn’t be too late to invite their neighbors to return.
To ensure comfort, the containers were merged into two units, featuring both a bedroom and a living room, making them more comfortable to live in.
