Chapter 263: Guessing and Doubting
Gu Pan took the opportunity to reach the desk and pulled out a camera from the Space, took photos of all the documents on the table, flipped through several pages of the work diary, and made quite a haul.
The only issue was that all the drawers in the desk were locked, and she couldn’t open them just yet, so she went around and snapped photos of the drawers as well, to figure out how to unlock them later.
On the other side, Lu Ruisheng and Lun Wanli’s sorrow had mostly subsided, and they couldn’t keep hugging each other, so Lu Ruisheng cleared his throat softly, signaling Gu Pan.
Gu Pan quietly returned to her original seat and refilled their tea.
Lun Wanli, with eyes red from crying, stood up, walked to a spot in front of the desk, knelt down to pry open a floor tile, and took out a box from underneath, placing it on the desk to open.
Inside were large gold bars, jewelry, and paintings and calligraphy.
Gu Pan knew this must be the old master’s private stash, probably even unknown to the old lady—it was intended as compensation for Lu Ruisheng.
Sure enough, Lun Wanli said to Lu Ruisheng, "These might not be worth much now, but they are still grandfather’s nest egg, you should take them."
After he spoke, he pulled out a stack of contribution points from a drawer, from the main base, and handed them to Gu Pan: "Take these as well, buy whatever you want here, don’t be afraid to spend."
Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng, of course, didn’t refuse; there was no need to. Besides, both of them had previously heard from Lu Jianguo that their grandmother’s dowry was substantial, and when they were younger, they had no way to claim it themselves. Later, it was all taken by the old lady. By the time Lu Jianguo and Lu Jianshe came of age and wanted to reclaim it, the old master always found excuses not to give it to them, so now, this was rightfully theirs.
