Chapter 166: _ Going To War
Going To War
After a few more minutes of Inspection, Lupe and I concluded that it would take a week— give or take— to rebuild the damages on the house. The problem was...money.
Lupe wasn’t sure her mother’s insurance would cover the costs of the renovation. So, it seemed she’d have to work until she could raise the money.
We headed back to the house, brainstorming on ways to get more money. Lupe was about to give up when she thought of something.
"Hey, you could get Gamma Rhett to help us." She whispered to me as we stopped by the market to get some ingredients for dinner.
I squinted my eyes, looking at her like she’d gone mad.
"Seriously?" I almost yelled. "Just because he’s the Gamma doesn’t mean he’s super rich or anything. Besides, our relationship isn’t even official yet. What if Kylo gets suspicious after his dad who’s seemingly hated me all this while, starts suddenly going out of his way to help my friend?"
Lupe bent her lip, contemplating my words. However, she shrugged soon after. "More reason why you need to confess to Kylo. I mean, it’s not your fault that your mate turned out to be his dad. And cut the crap about him not being rich. He’s the Gamma. Have you seen his house?"
We were both whispering, but I couldn’t help looking around with apprehension. I couldn’t imagine the entire pack knowing about me and Rhett’s secret. It was unheard of!
I sighed. "I don’t know, Lupe. I still need time. It’s not like I can just walk up to Kylo and be like: ’Hey, just wanted to let you know that I’m mated to your dad. He marked me and now I think we’re soulmates. Hope you’re cool with it?’ "
I made sure to sound as sarcastic as possible at the end. I was anxious. Each day that passed in my life made me feel like Gamma Rhett was right. Maybe I was cursed, for defying the moon goddess’s laws.
