Chapter 126: _ Sweet Food
As Fergus landed on the ground to find a burly werewolf with his fur matted with blood and dirt, stumbled towards the building, his eyes glazed with fear and desperation as he whimpered and was forced to shift back to his human form as a result of the fall.
Whatever threw him from that angle was nasty; Fergus thought to himself.
Luckily for the wolf, no vampires were in sight. Fergus watched him as he struggled to get back on his feet after cracking his neck and readjusting his dislocated bones. As he scampered back up, he spotted Fergus on the ledge and let out a confused snarl.
Food; Fergus thought. FOOD!
"What the...?" he began, voice filled with shock and eyes widened. "A little boy? Get inside, kid! This is no place for you!"
A caring food; Fergus thought. Aw, how sweet. A corner of his lips broke into a smirk. As a bonus, it would be a quick and easy kill. Jisy a morsel to tide him over before the real feast began.
"What are you doing out here, little one?" the wolf continued, moving closer to Fergus now.
Batting his lashes at his food, "I got separated from my mum." Fergus lied.
"Follow me, I’ll get you to safety." Said the concerned wolf who held Fergus’s hand and thereby heightening Fergus’s hunger with the scent and spilled blood all over him.
Fergus tilted his head, his face still hidden in the illusion of innocence. Safety? He had no need for safety. He was the embodiment of danger.
What this foolish wolf was doing was leading himself out of safety. That was what selfless people like Isleen get– their own doom.
