Chapter 83: _ Next Step~ Mate With Her
"Darius," Alpha Beowulf began, his voice resounding a hint of pleading, "it would be more beneficial to have Rhett with us. His keen senses and sharp mind might come in handy."
What in the seven holy hells was that?
Did the Alpha really need to sound like he was going to have Rhett stay back if Darius said no? There was more to this relationship between Darius and Beowulf that exceeded being just in-laws.
Later, when some of their problems were solved, he would look into this; Rhett affirmed internally to himself.
Darius was silent for a moment, his gaze fixed on Rhett like a predator assessing its prey, sizing him up from top to bottom. Rhett really hoped he’d do something stupid and he’d finally have his punch delivered but he was disappointed.
"Very well." Darius grudgingly agreed.
Rhett saw how Farkas and Bain exchanged surprised glances but none dared say anything.
Alpha Beowulf, who looked relieved by Darius’s concession turned to Rhett. "Rhett, you’ll be accompanying us tomorrow."
Rhett could only manage a silent nod. He felt like the pack would be better off without this Alpha and his Beta.
"Well then," Beowulf said, "I believe this meeting has run its course. Until tomorrow." He patted Rhett, Farkas, and Bain like they weren’t old enough to father him.
The three men saluted him regardless as he strode out of the chamber, Farkas trailing silently behind him.
