Chapter 73: _ Demons and Secrets
A cruel smile played on his lips as he leaned closer. His voice was a chilling whisper. "Hello there," he purred.
He could feel his breath a cold caress against her ear. The woman flinched, her voice, a whimper. "W-who are you?"
Fergus chuckled. "Someone who appreciates a good show," he replied, his gaze lingering on her wide, terrified eyes. "And someone who doesn’t like old women who think they are most righteous."
"Wait. Aren’t you that... boy with the Omega?" Her eyes widened with realization as she swept her gaze over Fergus in Liam’s form.
Fergus shrugged. The woman still didn’t recognize that this aura didn’t belong to a young wolf.
He forced a nonchalant shrug, hoping to dismiss her suspicion. The woman, however, wasn’t easily fooled.
"You can’t hide it," she rasped. "There’s something... wrong with you."
He smiled gaily at her. "Maybe you are right. Seems you aren’t only a judgmental bully but you’re smart too. For that, you gain a bonus to glimpse your killer’s true form."
He placed his hands on his hips, twisted his head, and shook it swiftly, leaving his original form to sift around Liam’s small frame. It was like a tug-of-war between his vampire form and the stolen one. One would wrap against the other, creating a blur that was just enough to achieve his purpose. It was a trick he learned he could reveal his true nature on a whim.
It wasn’t permanent or that she shifted fully back because if he did so, he’d lose this borrowed form and would have to find another.
Yet, this form was a very important one. It was one that he would change soon but not now.
