Chapter 49: _ Rhett Will Win
"His clothes were covered in blood and he was holding that little boy. But I spoke to him..."
Rhett’s brows furrowed. "About?"
"I asked him where he found those clothes and the boy. He told me — that he found the boy’s brother wounded from the attack and he has been requested to go bring the little one. I personally tendered my condolences to the little boy who appeared to be visibly grieving." Explained, Cora.
Now – this had yet disrupted the guesses he had in his mind. If Liam was with Reed because he was taking him to his brother, it meant the little boy was innocent.
Farkas’s interjection cut the chase of his thoughts. "That’s a lie."
Simultaneously, Rhett and Cora’s gazes turned to him.
"Reed was not taking the boy to his big brother. When I checked the information of the boy, his brother died in the attack. We took everyone who died and those who were injured ourselves. Nobody was allowed in the crime scene and I sure as hell didn’t see any civilians around."
That was indeed true. Rhett did remember Isleen telling him about Liam losing his elder brother. "Are you lying to us again, Cora?"
"No. No. No." Cora jerked up. By the gods, I’m not. I really am speaking the truth this time. I did Reed that night and he told me that. He told me to go wait for him and he never returned after that." She swore.
