Chapter 385: Up
Chapter 385: Up
Lyerin tilted his head back, gazing up at the mesmerizing expanse above. The floating islands hovered like celestial fortresses in the air, their edges crowned with waterfalls that cascaded down endlessly into the unknown. Some of the islands glowed faintly, bathed in a golden light that seemed to emanate from the rocks themselves, while others shimmered with silvery hues, as if stars had descended to call them home.
He turned to the girls, his lips curling into a sly smile. “Why not go to the sky next?”
The girls immediately perked up at his suggestion, their eyes following his gaze upward.
Corora was the first to break the silence, her voice filled with curiosity. “The sky? What’s so special about the sky here? I mean, it’s… just the sky, right? Clouds, air, maybe a bird or two? Or are those floating islands really as magical as they look?”
Cornelia chimed in, her tone more skeptical. “Floating islands are interesting and all, but what’s with the dramatics, Lyerin? You’re looking at the sky like it holds some sort of divine secret. What aren’t you telling us?”
Maria, her hands clasped in front of her, tilted her head thoughtfully. “Is it safe to go up there? It looks… distant, like it’s a place we aren’t meant to touch. Does anything live up there? And if it does, is it friendly?”
Elena crossed her arms, her adventurous spirit ignited. “Oh, come on! Don’t you all feel the pull? Floating islands? Endless skies? That sounds like a playground for the brave! But Lyerin, if you’re suggesting this, I take it you know something we don’t. What’s the catch?”
Sophia adjusted her glasses, her tone analytical. “Floating islands are fascinating from a geological and magical perspective. How do they stay suspended like that? Are they tethered to some unseen force, or is it the air itself that holds them? And what about the ecosystems? Are they self-sustaining? I have so many questions.”
Lydia giggled, her excitement palpable. “What if the air up there tastes different? Or what if it’s thinner and makes you dizzy? And those waterfalls—where do they go? Do they just vanish into nothingness? I want to see it all!”
