My mates in Beastworld

Chapter 233 Damon’s Abyss (1)

Damon leaned against the door, his body slowly sliding down until he sat on the cold floor, his back pressed against the door. His usually composed expression crumbled as he let out a shuddering breath, the weight of his emotions crashing down on him all at once. For a moment, he just sat there, feeling the ache in his chest grow stronger with each passing second.

He thought he had good self-control—he prided himself on it, in fact. But tonight, as he inhaled the scent of Lucas all over Kyra, it took everything he had not to lose himself to the rage simmering beneath the surface. He didn’t join them at dinner, couldn’t bring himself to sit there and pretend everything was fine. The mere thought of Kyra with Lucas tore at him, a silent torture he couldn’t escape.

He had locked himself away in his study room, a place that had always been a heaven for him, where he could lose himself in designing clothes, in creating something beautiful out of nothing. But tonight, even that couldn’t distract him. He leaned his head back against the door and closed his eyes, trying to hold back the emotions that threatened to spill.

Why was his life so complicated? Why was happiness always just out of reach?

His sister had left him alone in the world. His Beast father, in more ways than one, had abandoned him without knowing the whole truth, leaving him to navigate a world that offered nothing but pain. His mother didn’t even know he existed. He was alone, always alone, no matter how many people surrounded him.

And then there was Benjamin. The friend he had trusted above all others, the one who had stood by him through the worst of it—only to betray him in the end. Sandra, the woman they had both chased, had turned out to be nothing more than a cruel joke. She had rejected them both at first, only to accept them later, but that acceptance had come with a price. The truth, when it finally came out, was more than he could bear.

Three years ago, Damon had learned what Benjamin and Sandra had been planning all along, and it had shattered what little trust he had left in the world. He had fought all his life—fought to survive, fought to protect what little he had, fought to find some semblance of happiness—but every battle left him more scarred than before.

His hands clenched into fists, nails digging into his palms as he tried to keep himself together. But the memories kept flooding back, each one more painful than the last. He remembered coming back to Spirit City when he was twenty-five, hoping for a fresh start, only to find that his beast of a father and his elusive mother had moved away, leaving him with nothing but an empty home and a heart full of unanswered questions.

He had been surprised when Benjamin still remembered him, still wanted to be friends after all that time. They had rekindled their friendship, and for a brief moment, Damon had allowed himself to believe that maybe, just maybe, things would be okay. They had even decided to chase after Sandra together, the female who had once been the most beautiful in spirt city town But now, all that seemed so distant, so meaningless.
