Chapter 170 He would die for her
Finally, after hours of searching, he returned to the cave, his hands filled with the foraged goods. He shifted back into his dragon form and flew the short distance to the cave entrance, carefully landing outside. Shifting back into his human form, he entered the cave and placed the gathered food on a flat rock near the entrance.
He then covered the entrance with a large rock, ensuring it would keep out the cold and any potential threats. Satisfied that the cave was secure, he entered the capsule, eager to see Kyra and share what he had found.
Inside, Kyra was still asleep, wrapped warmly in the blankets. Damon gently stroked her hair, whispering, "I found some food, little thing. It’s not much, but it will keep us going." He placed a soft kiss on her forehead and set about preparing the food in kitchen.
"What are you doing, Damon?" Kyra woke up and, not seeing Damon around, went looking for him.
"I found something to eat for you, but I don’t know how to use these." Damon said, glancing at her face.
"Let me show you," Kyra walked towards him, standing so close that he could smell her scent, and helped to ignite the stove. His focus fell on her face, momentarily forgetting the task at hand.
"What do you want to make? I’ll help you," Kyra offered. "And I have some spices in my kitchen. You can tell me, and I will find them for you."
Damon’s eyes followed Kyra closely as she moved to the stove. "I found some winterberries, wild garlic, and mushrooms," he said, showing her his modest haul. "I’m not sure what to make with them, but I want it to be something good for you."
Kyra smiled, touched by his effort. "We can make a simple stew with these. The garlic will add a nice flavor, and the mushrooms and berries will give it some substance."
