Chapter 148 Somthing more dangerous (2)
Kyra paused, her breath ragged and visible in the cold air. She watched the beast disappear into the trees, confusion mingling with her relief. Something wasn’t right if that terrifying creature was running away like that.
She took a deep breath, her heart still pounding from the chase. The snow continued to fall, blanketing the world around her in a cold, white silence. What could have scared that beast so much? She turned to look at the mountains again, a sense of unease settling over her.
However, the thought of returning to the forest where the beasts lurked filled her with dread. She had no choice but to take the mountain path. With a limp, she walked towards the towering peaks, each step a painful effort.
Her eyes lit up when she saw a cave entrance in the mountainside. Uncertainty gripped her, but she knew she needed shelter. With cautious, small steps, she made her way inside.
The cave was frigid, with ice crystals lining the walls. Multiple tunnels branched off from the main chamber, each one dark and foreboding. The cold was intense, but it offered a refuge from the dangers outside. Kyra shivered, her breath forming small clouds in the air as she ventured deeper into the frozen labyrinth, hoping to find safety and perhaps a place to rest.
She looked around and chose one of the cave tunnels, walking carefully inside.
The cave she entered was empty, but she didn’t care. Shifting back into human form, She quickly customized a transparent space capsule and set it up in the cave. With shaky hands, she walked inside and closed the door behind her.
Kyra leaned her back against the door and slid down to the floor, her body trembling from fear and exhaustion. She covered her mouth with her hands as sobs escaped, her chest heaving with each cry.
She had never felt this scared. She had never imagined the world could be so dangerous, never thought she would face such a terrifying situation.
