Chapter 24 - 24 Castle (3)
As they went further into the castle, cobwebs adorned the corners, and a thin layer of dust covered the furniture. Green moss had found its way onto the walls as they ascended the creaking staircase.
"Isn't it weird that someone would leave behind such a cool castle?" Lucas pondered.
Kyra, deep in thought, replied, "Perhaps the owner simply moved away."
Lucas, his tone turning serious, added, "Or maybe... the owner has already passed away. I've heard tales of castles like this being haunted by the spirits of their former inhabitants."
Kyra's eyes widened with fear. "Really?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Lucas, his face briefly shrouded in dark shadows, reassured her, "Yes, it's true."
"Don't try to scare me, Lucas," Kyra muttered, trying to hide her unease.
Chuckling softly, Lucas replied, "I'm not scaring you, Kyra. Just look behind you-"
Startled, Kyra turned around, her heart pounding in her chest. However, to her relief, there was nothing there. Confused, she turned back to face Lucas, but he had vanished, leaving her feeling a little lost.
