Legacy of the Void Fleet

Chapter 509: CH

It wasn’t dropping that fast, but still, if things continued like this, she was worried that she might eventually lose her shield’s. Then she would have to go through a bit of trouble to handle things, and the Dark Knight might even take some damage.

While thinking about this, she continued to dodge the incoming attacks, be they missiles, energy cannons, particle weapons, and whatnot.

Though she wasn’t able to break through the suppression, that didn’t mean she was helpless or would simply stay put in one place and take the hits.

"Don’t let the human Mecha get close to us!" shouted the man leading this operation alongside Dark Soul.

"Block its path and keep on bombarding it! Do not give it an opening!" he continued.

"Grand Marshal, keep on with your job just like that."

Though he spoke while mentioning Dark Soul’s title, Dark Soul could clearly see the reverse that these people used to have had somehow diminished quite a bit. It had even become somewhat symbolic.

"Tch."

Dark Soul could only grit his teeth before laughing himself toward the Dark Knight, striking it down once again.

He directed all his anger toward this human Mecha, for it was responsible for his current situation.

Ritika did everything in her power to handle the situation as well as she could, but even with the Dark Knight’s superior capabilities and advantages, she could not simply ignore such numerous, sky-covering firepower. She could only respond to them with another attack of her own.

Slash!

She slashed her sword at the incoming fire, releasing sword energy toward it.

BOOM!

The attack from the Republican fleet and her own attack collided in mid-space and exploded.

Dark Soul, meanwhile, took advantage of Ritika’s distraction and aimed for the cockpit, piercing straight toward it with his energy sword.

CLANG! RIPPLE!

"Damnit!" Dark Soul cursed as his attack was caught by the Dark Knight’s shield, causing no damage other than a few ripples across its surface.

Woosh!

Knowing his attack had failed, Dark Soul quickly created distance between himself and his opponent. At the same time, he released one plasma cannon attack after another at the Dark Knight, hoping to restrict its movement until the suppressive fire covered it again.

"Damn hell!" Ritika gritted her teeth in frustration, seeing how she had been attacked out of the blue.

Dark Demon dodged and created distance as well, and just as she was about to charge, another wave of attacks came through the blazing flames of the explosions, fired by the fleet.

Her movement became even more restricted. Increasing her frustration, the situation continued to unfold like this.

But a shift was bound to happen. And it was happening every moment. Slowly, the Third Fleet was getting its advantage back.

After all, warfare was always an unforgiving beast of cause and effect.

Barrack, by pulling twenty-five percent of their heaviest firepower away from the frontline, had unknowingly committed a fatal strategic miscalculation.

He had failed to realize one thing.

The firepower they were using to protect Dark Soul and help him suppress the Dark Knight was firepower that could no longer be used against the Lance of the Void Fleet.

The sheer overwhelming suppressive firepower they had created by making use of their ships—which were superior in quantity to the human fleet—was exactly what they had used to suppress the Third Fleet and slowly grind it down, thus gaining a true advantage.

But that advantage was now gone simply because of this.

And Ritika, being the High Admiral of the Third Fleet of the Lance of the Void Grand Fleet, obviously knew about it, even while engaged in a battle of her own.

So did the others.

Though Ritika didn’t interfere, the others in the fleet did.

After all, this sudden drop in incoming attacks not only relieved them of pressure, but also opened an opportunity for them to take advantage of.

Mav was made aware of this and quickly passed down the order. "Don’t waste this opportunity that High Admiral Ritika has created for you all!"

His words stunned everyone.

Indeed, something that had been suppressed in their minds suddenly unlocked, and they realized why it had been taking High Admiral Ritika so much time to deal with one being despite her badass powers.

’So that was the case...’The thought crossed the minds of every high-level officer of the Void Grand Fleet’s Third Fleet, and they immediately understood what had happened.

"Don’t worry, Grand Admiral. Let us handle it," Violet spoke with confidence.

Mav nodded, and his figure disappeared.

He already had enough on his plate. He couldn’t deal with this at the moment. And anyway, Ritika wanted to train them, so helping them would not be helping Ritika at all.

Instead, it would only cause him trouble.

He imagined what Ritika’s face would look like if he supported them himself.

’Nah. I don’t wanna face that,’ he muttered.

He then began reorganizing the First Fleet and even joined the battle personally to quickly finish things, as the battle was going on for too long.

Meanwhile, seeing the Grand Admiral gone, Violet quickly turned around, raised her left hand, and issued an order to the fleet.

"Prepare the main weapon batteries. Target their flanks first..." She paused for a moment. "AND FIRE!!!"

BOOOOM!!!

The Third Fleet erupted as one.

Hundreds of warships opened fire almost simultaneously.

Their main cannons flashed with radiant light, causing the surrounding mana to go haywire.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The Republican Armada’s sub-flanks were struck all at once.

They were completely unprepared for this, and as a result, battleship after battleship had its shields destroyed within a couple of seconds. Another second later, their hulls were blasted apart or bent to unnatural degrees by high-kinetic slugs.

The battlecruisers were even more brutal.

They were completely torn apart into many small fragments, and just like that, after only a couple of rounds of attacks, the defensive formations on both flanks of the Republican Armada collapsed under this sudden and unexpected assault.

"Damnit! What the hell is going on?!" High Admiral Barrack shouted.

Another High Admiral, who had left the port flank to attack the human fleet and suppress it, saw more than a dozen ships sunk and brutally destroyed by attacks coming from the human side’s central formation.

Something Barrack should have been holding back and dealing with.

And yet, this had happened.

"How are the human ships in the central battle zone being left unchecked?! Damnit! DAMNIT!" he roared over the comms.

Without even cutting off the communication, he immediately began ordering the troops on his side.

"Raise the shields! Battleships up front, prepare to withstand the enemy fire!"

"Reserve support, quickly move forward and help out!"

Barrack listened to it all, but he chose to remain silent.

The Republican High Admiral could only shut his mouth and focus his attention on the battlefield, which was going from bad to worse within seconds.

At the same time, Violet, seeing this, quickly issued another order.

"This should be enough. Those two flanks can handle themselves now. Route those forces from the Republican flanks and bring them to my support!"

After thinking for a moment, she finally issued another order.

"Everyone, target the Republican central line!"

"Mecha and starfighter squads, be prepared! You will be called in at any moment to launch a counterattack!"

"High Admiral."

Violet quickly cut off the fleet-wide transmission and called Ritika directly.

"Hmm? What is it, Admiral Violet?" Ritika responded from the other side. Her voice was normal, although her rapid breathing could be heard, but there was nothing to be concerned about.

"High Admiral, I want to use your flagship to attack the Republican-created battle line, pierce another hole through it, and cause a certain amount of losses while at it. I’m thinking that we should get things done with now."

She asked with a bit of reservedness, but she was also blunt about her plans.

Ritika, hearing this, nodded.

"Hmm. Go do it. You accomplish that, and I’ll be there quickly to support you all."

Indeed, the time had come to finish this battle quickly. It had been going on for far too long now.

Ritika commended her and added, "Then I’ll leave that to you, High Admiral. Over and out."

With that, she cut off the communication and directly began to operate Dark Star.

The frontal panel of Dark Star opened up, and a blue, gem-like object became visible at the pointed head of Dark Star.

The surrounding mana began to surge toward it.

Even the Stellar Power Core began to release an immeasurable amount of energy at a higher output toward the module of the Nova Cannons.

RIP!!

A thick red beam of energy was launched from it, which split midway into twelve smaller red beams and directly struck the Republican warships in their created battle zones—twelve at once.

BOOM ×12!

Twelve massive suns rose across the central battle zones of the Republican Armada, destroying all the Republican ships present in those twelve zones in the blink of an eye.
