Chapter 274: Report
Chapter 274: Report
The next morning.
It was a rest day, and Wang Haoran didn’t have any classes scheduled. Still, since he had an appointment, he rose early.
As for Yang Jingwan, being a property sales agent meant she practically had no holidays at all. The concept of “time off” simply didn’t exist in her world. But today, she was just too exhausted—so tired her limbs felt like lead, her throat scratchy and hoarse. She decided, without hesitation, to skip work altogether.
To begin with, sales was never something she was suited for. The fact that she’d endured this long was a small miracle in itself.
Now, however, she had a new job—a web novel author. And even as a complete newcomer, she was already earning a respectable income. There was serious potential in this.
She had made up her mind: she would quit the sales job and focus entirely on writing fiction.
With that decision came a newfound freedom over her time. And that meant more time spent with a certain someone. Nothing made her happier.
Yang Jingwan curled back under the covers, planning to sleep until eleven or noon.
Meanwhile, Wang Haoran washed up, got dressed, and left the villa. By 9 a.m., he arrived at the “First Love” Café and booked a private booth on the second floor. He sipped his coffee slowly, calmly waiting.
A short while later, a message came through on Xu Muyan’s WeChat account, which he had logged into.
Lin Shao:“I’m already at First Love Café. Sitting at booth 52. Have you arrived?”
Wang Haoran didn’t reply right away. Instead, he activated his X-ray Vision and swept across the first floor from above.
Booth 52 was indeed located downstairs.
It was still morning, so the café wasn’t too crowded.
His gaze paused on a man sitting at that booth. Around twenty-five years old, fairly decent-looking, maybe even a bit handsome. Dressed in a full business suit, wearing a flashy wristwatch, and casually placing a Ferrari car key on the table.
At first glance, he had the full package of a rich, elite bachelor.
But Wang Haoran narrowed his eyes and took a more detailed look.
The suit still had a tag inside—it hadn’t even been removed. Brand new.
What, planning to wear it once and return it?
The watch sparkled on the surface, but upon closer inspection, the craftsmanship was cheap and crude—a counterfeit.
And the “Ferrari key”? It was a lighter.
A fake rich boy.
You can spend tens of millions on virtual gifts online, but can’t afford a real suit? Wang Haoran wondered.
Something didn’t add up.
He silently connected with the system and scanned the man’s profile.
【Protagonist: Lin Feng】
【Combat Power: 86】
【Charm Value: 136】
【Protagonist Halo: 696】
【Skill (Golden Finger): Online Tycoon System】
(Note 1: The system issues the host with virtual currency usable across major online platforms. If the host spends all of it within a set time frame, they can upgrade the system or receive more currency. Note 2: Virtual currency cannot be cashed out or traded for real-world money in any form.)
The information flashed through Wang Haoran’s mind.
So that was it—this “Lin Shao” was the protagonist of an Online Tycoon genre.
Their specialty was spending endless virtual currency online in order to gain real-life benefits.
Judging from his stats, Lin Feng was still in the early development phase. Even so, he already managed to throw ten million in gifts last night.
Which meant the system would soon reward him with even more currency.
Imagine if he started showering a beautiful female streamer with ten million every day… it wouldn’t take long for even a stoic girl to warm up to him.
Of course, there was a caveat.
The female lead, being spoiled, had to be single—and not in love with anyone else. Otherwise, no matter how much money was thrown, it was just an expensive, one-sided gesture.
Yang Jingwan and Xu Muyan were prime examples. Their hearts belonged fully to Wang Haoran. No matter how extravagant Lin Feng’s gifts were, they barely registered beyond mild surprise.
Still, luring Lin Feng’s money through them might not be a bad strategy.
But Wang Haoran wasn’t short on cash. More importantly, he hated watching protagonists act smug in front of him.
The only reason he secured the top spot on the leaderboard yesterday was because Lin Feng was still developing, and his virtual funds had a cap.
Once he matured, Wang Haoran knew—even with deep pockets—he couldn’t go toe-to-toe in spending against a system-fed online tycoon.
Trying to compete would only end one way: public humiliation.
And that was something Wang Haoran would never allow.
Lin Shao:“Hey, you there? Why aren’t you replying?”
Snapped out of his thoughts, Wang Haoran composed himself and used Xu Muyan’s voice to send a voice message: “Still at the dorm, putting on makeup~ It’ll be a little while before I get there, okay?”
Lin Feng, upon hearing the soft and alluring voice, grinned with satisfaction. So beautiful, and she’s putting on makeup just for me? There’s hope.
Lin Shao:“No rush, take your time. I’ll wait for you.”
Wang Haoran replied sweetly again, “Okay~” Then, he pulled up his contacts and dialed Ling Duanya’s number.
The call connected. “Police Officer Sister, I need to report someone!”
“Haoran?” Ling Duanya answered, her voice instantly alert. “What is it? What are you reporting?”
The last time he tipped her off, she led a team to bust an entire ring of criminals in Qingling. It had been a major win for her department.
So hearing his voice again filled her with excitement.
“Someone’s laundering money,” Wang Haoran stated flatly.
“Who? Where?” she asked without hesitation. Based on their successful past cooperation, she trusted him implicitly.
“His name is Lin Feng. He’s at First Love Café right now, booth 52.”
“Make sure you stay safe and keep him there. I’m heading over with a team right now!”
As she hung up, he could hear the shuffle of rushed footsteps and the sharp calls as she rallied her officers.
Downstairs, Lin Feng had no idea what was coming. He was still checking his reflection in his phone camera, fixing his hair, making sure he looked perfect for his date with “Xu Muyan.”
But instead of a delicate beauty, what appeared before him ten minutes later was Ling Duanya—powerful, stunning in her professional uniform, and radiating authority.
He didn’t even have time to appreciate her looks.
She flipped open her badge, then said coldly, “Mr. Lin Feng, we’ve received reliable information indicating that several of your online accounts have recently seen large, unexplained cash flows. You are suspected of involvement in illicit money laundering. Please come with us to assist in the investigation.”
Lin Feng panicked. “There must be some mistake! My money is clean!”
“Oh really?” she asked with a razor-sharp gaze. “Then explain. Where exactly did it come from? Did you earn it?”
Lin Feng opened his mouth but couldn’t utter a word. What was he supposed to say? My system gave it to me?
Ling Duanya caught the flicker of guilt in his eyes and her suspicion deepened.
“We’ll see soon enough whether or not it’s dirty money,” she said, then turned to her team. “Escort Mr. Lin to the station.”
