Shu Yu received the news while she was harvesting sunflowers at the Manor.
She was wearing a dusty gray coverall, her hair was gathered and wrapped in a cloth headscarf, holding a scythe to cut down the sunflower stems. With each chop, her movements were as straightforward as those of any other farmer.
In such attire, no one could recognize her in the crowd.
The messenger was Xia Yan, a servant of Meng Yunzheng, who couldn’t find her for quite some time in the sunflower field.
Xiang Weinan had special channels, and as soon as the news was confirmed in the Capital, someone hastened to inform him even before the official documents arrived.
Xiang Weinan immediately found Meng Yunzheng to discuss the matter, and the latter sent Xia Yan to inform Shu Yu.
Shu Yu came out of the sunflower field and was silent for a while after hearing the news. Yet, she felt a sense of “it’s finally here” within her heart.

Shu Yu nodded; she knew who the new Emperor was before anyone else.
She untied her rolled-up sleeves and started walking towards the Manor.
Although the news hadn’t been officially announced, she still needed to warn everyone.
She advised everyone not to wear bright and eye-catching clothes recently, and the two red lanterns hanging at the entrance of the Manor were taken down.
Everyone was puzzled, but seeing Shu Yu’s serious expression, they obediently complied.
Fortunately, the farmers at the Manor didn’t have bright red and green clothes, and they were unwilling to afford them. However, there were a few families who had recently made some bright clothes for their children with the extra wages, which were now replaced.
After finishing her instructions, Shu Yu resumed her work.
Once the sunflowers were harvested, the workshop would open.
Due to the Emperor’s demise, the originally lively ceremony became simple, with no firecrackers set off, and the opening was very low-key.
The workshop now consisted of three courtyards: one for processing melon seeds, one for oil extraction, and the last for accommodations and dining.
The three courtyards were separate entities, each separated by a large empty space. If the workshop expands in the future, new structures can be built on the empty space; if not, it can be used for drying harvested sunflower seeds.
The outermost part was a surrounding wall that enclosed all three courtyards, with a grand gate and two side gates remaining.
Each of the three gates was guarded, with the two side gates usually closed on regular days, and everyone entered and exited through the grand gate.
On the opening day, Shu Yu was present, dressed in neat clothes, standing at the gate, watching the forty-two employees come in, suppressing their excitement. After saying a few simple words, the Lu family workshop was officially open for business.
The main gate opened, and everyone entered in a continuous line.
They had seen the interior of the workshop before, but being the first day on the job, they couldn’t help but look around.

Shu Yu led the way at the front, but why did she go to the left when the workshop was on the right?
