Chapter 1231: Little Cubs
Shu Yu’s originally cheerful expression froze for a moment. She quickly remembered today’s date and frowned slightly, "Are they really coming to see who proposed to me?"
Ying Xi was confused, "Madam Xiang? Is that the Madam of the County Magistrate?"
Shu Yu nodded and said to Hua Xian, "Since we’re here, let’s go and have a look, shall we?"
She tidied her clothes and hair, then took the lead in stepping out of the Yu Garden.
She hadn’t yet reached the Gate of Drooping Flowers when she saw Sixing playing with Quanquan and Little Song Le, with Maneki darting around their feet.
Quanquan and Little Song Le are getting along extremely well now. The two of them stick together all day, inseparable, and sometimes even sleep together at night.
Although Little Song Le still hasn’t spoken, his personality is becoming increasingly cheerful. He isn’t afraid when seeing Ah Ning and the others, and he no longer hides when they talk to him.
Shu Yu greeted Sixing and then headed straight to the front yard.
Who knew, just as she crossed the threshold of the Gate of Drooping Flowers, she heard Quanquan exclaim behind her, "Maneki."
Shu Yu instinctively turned her head to look, only to see Maneki following behind her. She waved her hand to send Maneki back.
But Maneki ignored her and instead leaped forward a few steps, overtaking her directly. Then it stopped again, turned back, and meowed at them a few times.
Quanquan and Little Song Le immediately held hands and chased after it, but the two little ones with short legs and small bodies not only were slow but also staggered a bit, resembling waddling penguins from the back.
With the weather getting colder now, the two of them wore quite a bit, making them look round and bulky.
Shu Yu couldn’t help but laugh; the little cubs were just too cute.
She exchanged a glance with Sixing, and both of them naturally followed behind the two children.
Meanwhile, Xiao, sitting in the living room, was feeling rather uneasy.
The entire Lu family has been busy lately. If it weren’t for Shu Yu having errands to run at home today, she probably would have been out too.
As a result, the only person left in the Lu family was the old lady, so naturally, she was the one to receive Xiao.
Yet, two people living in entirely different environments can’t find common ground at all.
Not only was Xiao uncomfortable, but the old lady also felt awkward; she really hadn’t had much solo interaction with wives of such status from the government.
Being in the same space as Xiao was less appealing than having a staring contest with her nemesis in the village.
So she could only laugh dryly, constantly saying to Xiao, "Madam, please have tea. This is brought back by Yu from the capital. It’s said to be a rare good tea. I, an old lady from the countryside, can’t discern it. But madam has more experience, surely you know."
Xiao laughed dryly too. Although she came to settle scores with Shu Yu, she wasn’t about to vent on an innocent old lady.
She could only smell the cup of tea without drinking it, then put it down again and nodded, saying, "Indeed, it’s good tea."
This tea, even her family has some.
It can’t be bought generally in the market. Perhaps it was given by the Qi family or Yao family.
Young Master Fu truly cares for this Shu Yu, Xiao felt somewhat envious.
After saying this, the living room once again fell into a dead silence.
Both of them frequently looked outside – just when is Yu (Shu Yu) going to come?
As they were watching, Xiao suddenly saw a figure flash past, and upon closer inspection, she found it was a chubby cat.
Unable to resist, Xiao widened her eyes, staring eye to eye with the cat that just ran in.
